Support from their black “best friends” would shape who they would become afterwards (Black Noir helped Homelander hide what happened, setting him on the path to become the monster seen in the show, and Maurice encouraged Julien to take responsibility and rescue his people, putting him on the right track to become one of the greatest lemur kings). Homelander would fail to rescue the hostages and Julien would get his entire kingdom captured. This naivety would backfire on the first days of their careers. ![]() They were both raised in artificial environments (Homelander in a lab and Julien was raised believing he was the best student in school because the others had to let him win everything), and because of this grew up naive. Both tend to be egotistical, lazy, impulsive, and dramatic. Both strongly crave adoration and admiration, but while Julien needs his subjects to love him, Homelander is willing to use fear to make people obey him. Both are some of if not the most powerful (King Julien politically, Homelander physically) characters in their settings, and because of this they can get away with doing almost whatever they want.
